Social bookmarking websites are becoming more and more popular. They allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorite’s list of your browser.
Traffic from social sites is something you have to work diligently to learn how to convert. That is another post for another day. For now, I’d like to set the record straight about what is most important for a social marketing campaign. And it’s not the initial spurt (or flood) of traffic.

The most important thing about a social marketing campaign is the linkage you get from it. I’m not talking about the links from your submitted posts on Digg or Propeller. I am talking about the links you pick up from other bloggers and site publishers who find your story on the front page of Digg or Propeller and then write about it back at their site.

Here’s how a complete Social Marketing campaign breaks down:

1. Linkbait piece is posted.
2. If it resonates, it is voted up to prominent position in one or more social news sites.
3. That activity catches the attention of other bloggers in your niche and hopefully moves them to write about your piece and link to you.

Until that cycle completes, you aren’t done. You might need to go back and get more votes to move up on certain sites. Asking your visitors to take the time to vote if they like your post is a good tactic to get the needed votes for the submission to catch on.

Putting on the gray hat for a moment.

You can prime the votes with creating accounts on some or all of the social bookmarking sites.
Then Manually submit your link bait “article,Blog Post, Video” to the bookmarking sites.
This can be tedious at best.
There are a few ways that I can semi automate this process.
There is a free site that can help with this: http://www.socialmarker.com/ This site is awesome and will walk you though posting your link bait.
another tool I like to use is a desktop app called Web2Submitter. Its not a bad little app and for $47.00 its a good deal. Loads of features.

as far as a list of sites I like to use, here is my top list for submitting to:

  • Propeller.comPropeller.com
  • Slashdot.orgSlashdot.org
  • Digg.comDigg.com
  • Technorati.comTechnorati.com
  • Del.icio.usDel.icio.us
  • Stumbleupon.comStumbleupon.com
  • Twitter.comTwitter.com

  • Newsvine.comNewsvine.com
  • Furl.netFurl.net

So if you would. Could you book mark this article?
Thanks!

Do you deal with multiple blogs? If you are like me you have to post to 30+ blogs or more…. That’s alot to keep up with. I have most of my Articles ghost written but still, having to post to all those blogs is time consuming and honestly I have a lot to do. My need was a tool that will post to my blogs for me.
So after some looking and testing I decided that I would use RSS to Blog. “no its not an affiliate link”.

What I was able to do was great groups of blogs that get posts from batched sets of articles.
I was able to even use Spun articles and each blog would only get one unique from each hub.
It would even spread out the time the blogs where posted to. Now that was awesome.. It took me about 3 hours to setup the program and get the articles ready for posting. You do have to setup a cron job to run but their support is awesome, even if you don’t have access to cron jobs.

This program allows you to aggregate RSS feeds as well as search engine results… Here are some key features:

  • Open News Item Links in a New Window
  • Make Automatic Posts to Word Press Categories
  • Add Your Keywords to The Post Titles
  • Copy Entire Projects easily

So today I wanted to talk a bit about Pumper sites. what they are and the benefit of using them in your online endeavors and creating your pumper sites.
A Pumper “PR Pumper” is a name given to any web site whose only purpose is to link to a money site.
The benefit is you can create a group of sites that you control where they link to, ie your money site.
You drive traffic to these sites with Articles, social bookmarking, videos or satellite content sites.

With that you want to create a network of Pumper sites. The should be registered under different names as well as hosted at unique locations ie different hosting providers as well as having unique IP addresses.
The sites should follow some sort of theme, so what either the main nitch of your money site or
a vertical “category” of your money site.
the Layout of the
Pumper site should be simple There is no real secret as to how you lay it out. Here is an example:

  • Have the main page link to your site map
  • Your site map should link to links to ALL pages
  • All pages should link to the home page
  • Be sure to use No follow Links
  • Home pages setup the Nav to use text links with keyword to all page
  • on the article pages point to the Site Map with no followed
  • Off Site Links

  • each article page put 3-5 links to a sub/pages of your money site
  • On one subpage of site put a link to another PR Pumper site hosted on a different class C IP
  • That’s the basic setup. Now driving traffic to the Pumper sites.
    You can start submitting pages of your Pumpers to the social Bookmarking sites.
    Here is a cool free resource for doing this:

    Option #1
    http://www.socialmarker.com/
    a tool I also like to use is:
    web2submitter

    Option #2
    Start submitting articles to the web linking back to your Pumper sites.
    You can do this by hand or use a program such as:
    article submitter
    This submits your PLR Article “spin it!” to the article directories.
    Also you can add your pumper sites to the Directory sites.. I like to use:
    directory submitter

    Option #3
    create satellite sites that link to your pumper sites using a blog CMS such as Word press.
    And Blog automation.. <– I’ll cover this in the next post.

    Well that’s a start.. Let me know your thoughts ideas or questions..

    Soon after the acquisition of IndexTools by Yahoo! back in May, it was expected that Yahoo! would soon come up with an innovative web analytics tool in order to compete with Google Analytics which still remains the no.1 choice of most bloggers and webmasters when it comes to traffic monitoring.

    And finally after all this wait here it is, Yahoo! Web Analytics.

    Yahoo! Web Analytics has been designed to enable webmasters to view, in near real-time, the experiences of visitors to their website. Much like Google Analytics, Yahoo! Web Analytics helps you identify the ads, campaigns, keywords and referrals that contribute the most to your website but in a more unique and fashionable manner.

    Yahoo! Web Analytics boasts of the following unique features.

    * Executive Dashboard
    * Advanced Campaign Management
    * Real-Time Segmentation
    * Live Cost Analysis
    * Merchandise Reporting
    * Scenario Analysis
    * Comparative Reporting

    Yahoo! Web Analytics will be as easy to use as Google Analytics and Yahoo! also plans to provide a set of APIs for developers to develop applications and software.

    It is currently only available to Yahoo! Small Business customers but soon it slowly it will be rolled out to all webmasters and users.

    Do you have a brand? If not, your site is part of a “cesspool.” In AdAge Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt explains the AdWords quality score and organic ranking algorithms in laymans terms:
    The internet is fast becoming a “cesspool” where false information thrives, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said yesterday. Speaking with an audience of magazine executives visiting the Google campus here as part of their annual industry conference, he said their brands were increasingly important signals that content can be trusted.

    “Brands are the solution, not the problem,” Mr. Schmidt said. “Brands are how you sort out the cesspool.”

    “Brand affinity is clearly hard wired,” he said. “It is so fundamental to human existence that it’s not going away. It must have a genetic component.”

    The key to understanding the above is to appreciate that not only do the large brands have more money and more exposure, but they are less likely to be policed if they do the same thing that a smaller webmaster does. It is why a billion dollar company’s affiliate program passes PageRank and my affiliate links do not.

    Simply put, big brands should spam. Smart people like you, who read the algorithms as a profession, already knew this, but a large segment of publishers think search is mostly trickery and voodoo.

    Build a brand and buy links. If your brand is big enough you most likely will not get policed out of the search results. It has been that way for years. If only the AdWords support team or Matt Cutts spoke with Mr. Schmidt’s level of clarity!

    Google Is Dancing

    Yep it’s the Google Dance!
    Yesterday Google was down for a short time and came back on line. After the reboot Google had a major change in Adsense and
    Adwords. Today Google Started the Google Toolbar PR Update. So watch the bar. I saw that I went down to a PR5.

    Its a good thing that the BIG THREE SE’s don’t seem to care about PR for your SERP.

    Jul 14

    The two Big Changes.
    It looks like google has updated the control pannel to simplify the look.
    The terms seem to be about auto filling the google search box with Keyphrases. More to follow.

    What’s the cost? SEO is really cheap?
    icon1 seo expert Jason Brashear | icon2 SEO | icon4 07 14th, 2005| icon33 Comments »

    So when I meet with a client one of the first questions asked is, “Why is search engine optimization so expensive?” My answer is: it really isn’t.
    Search engine optimization “SEO” has got to be the most cost effective type of advertising with a low cost-per-acquisition (CPA) and high return on investment (ROI). Research has shown that dollar for dollar, SEO is the best form of advertising…online and offline!

    See Marketing Sherpa

    SEO is proactive: the customer is actively looking for the products and services you provide. In traditional advertising This would be passive: you are hoping to get someone’s interest and get them considering purchasing your products and services.

    Compared to other types of advertising, SEO is very inexpensive. Think about how much your business might spend on television, radio, newspaper, magazine, or even yellow pages ads. If you were to break these costs down on a monthly basis, SEO would probably cost the least and still provide greater results.

    Watch out for roudy Hosting companies

    So I was setting up hosting for a friend. I expalined to the Admin that that we needed Unique IP’s for their sites. This guy Mike VP of WestNic
    in a help desk tick, Mind you that I have totally be polite to him puts this in the message:

    You may request own class-c blocks, build own data center, do whatever you have to do. Here, at WestNIC, we operate under ARIN guidelines. Please take your time and read them.

    DOES ARIN SAY YOU CANT HAVE A UNIQUE IP FOR A DOMAIN NAME? I missed that memo…

    It’s absolutely impossible to assign dedication IP for SEO.

    Is it?

    By the way, SEO getting banned by Google and Yahoo. I like that idea. < --- What the H@##

    Today we terminated two SEO huuuge sites (over 100K pages!) Again This guy is a complete fool! No, Really.

    for server abuse - cpu overload.
    So if you have a site with over 100k of pages you are a bad person? This is server Abuse? CPU Overload? (= HAHA What ever!
    We’re currently reviewing our ToS and hopefully, SEO will be banned across small ISPs this year. I’ve already voted positively.

    If you going to do same thing - I advise you to stop SEOing and ask for full refund. If your account terminated for abuse - WestNIC won’t give any refund.

    So my advice to anyone wanting to host and not be treated like crap, stay clear of Mike and WestNic (=
    WestNIC VP of Operations: mike@westnic.net Sales and billing support
    Send him a note and let him know how much you appericiate his ideas.
    Mike your kind od Admin Skills are a dying bread…
    Really..
